Our inspiration to become a part of the Student Visionaries is because of a personal connection to blood cancer. Last year my best friend, Gage Pfanenstiel, was diagnosed with Nodular Sclerosing Hodgkin's Lymphoma at just 16 years old. He received 4 rounds and 48 doses of chemotherapy and had to give up the rest of his junior year and golf season. This time in Gage’s and his friends and families’ lives were some of the most eerie and unpredictable months ever. Thanks to his doctors and nurses along with the cancer research in the world today as of April 4, 2023 Gage is cancer free and in remission. Battling cancer or having a loved one who is is one of the most daunting things a person can experience.
